While studying at university, I’ve also been training in special effects at Vancouver FX Studio, where I’ve had the privilege of learning under artist and instructor @dallasharveyfx. Dallas has become both a mentor and a close friend, teaching me not only technical skills but also his powerful creative philosophy.

He invited me to assist him in the creation of several FX props for the official music video “Skinny Loser” by recording artist @suburban. The task: build a surreal drummer costume with a giant, mechanical-style headpiece and intense stage presence.

In this project, I helped design, construct, and assemble components for this striking prop, blending traditional sculpture techniques with flexible fabrication. Seeing the piece in action—on a real set, lit for camera, and brought to life by performance—was both surreal and deeply rewarding.

This was my first professional experience contributing to a major music video, and it taught me invaluable lessons in collaboration, time-sensitive problem solving, and practical FX design.
