CERAMIC
Clown Test Tiles

This ceramic study explores two contrasting formats — flat tile and sculptural relief — to deepen my ongoing fascination with clowns as uncanny figures. These early tests were part of a class exercise, where I began developing my visual language through expressive, disturbing faces rendered in glaze and form.

The clowns, painted in bright reds and blues, straddle the line between playful and grotesque — a hallmark of the Lugocid style. With exaggerated features and frozen expressions, they reflect both humor and menace. These faces are part of a larger body of work interrogating childhood fears, nostalgia, and pop horror.

The tiles served as test beds for larger installations, including sculptural urinals and toy modifications, as I continued to develop clowns as symbolic objects of emotional contradiction.
