Chinese Pier Test Model

Chinese Pier Test Model is one of ten pieces I created for my university application portfolio. I wanted each work to show a different side of my skill set, and this model focused on craftsmanship, atmosphere, and material sensitivity. It was one of the key projects that helped me get accepted.

I built the structure using various types of wood to achieve contrast in texture and tone, painting and finishing each surface to evoke the feeling of aged architecture. To simulate water around the pier, I used layers of epoxy resin, carefully tinted and poured. The two lion statues at the entrance were designed digitally and 3D printed, then painted and integrated into the scene as subtle guardians of the space.

More than a technical exercise, this model was a way for me to tell a quiet story—one rooted in tradition, memory, and attention to detail. Chinese Pier Test Model became a symbolic entry point, both into the scene it represents and into the academic journey it helped unlock.
