Anas Biceps Gigantor exaggerates the human body to the point of absurdity, transforming the duck (anas in Latin) into a heroic, overbuilt figure. The project began with a question: what is “good art”? In Western tradition, Greek and Roman marble sculpture has long been upheld as the “true” or “pure” expression of art. This work challenges those precognitions—societal constructs that are often narrow, misguided, and exclusionary.

The busts, digitally modeled and 3D printed in PLA plastic, emulate the grandeur of classical statuary but replace the weight of marble with machine-made plastic. They parody the canon by adopting the language of permanence while being fundamentally ephemeral. Their glossy, candy-like automotive finishes in furious Pop colors reject the sterile whiteness of classical marble, instead celebrating the loud, playful, and absurd.
Anas Biceps Gigantor is at once a critique and a love letter: it undermines the authority of “classical” and “modern” ideals of sculpture, while embracing the possibilities of new technologies in artmaking. It is digital sculpture that mimics the traditional, a plastic statue pretending to be chiseled stone—layered satire on art history, cultural standards, and the future of sculpture itself.
