SCULPTURE
SpikeBalls

SpikeBalls is an exploration of basic geometric forms taken to a tactile and luminous extreme. These sculptures begin with the humble sphere, then erupt into energetic constellations of sharp, evenly distributed spikes—like molecular structures or synthetic sea urchins.

The translucent quality of the 3D-printed resin becomes central to the experience. When illuminated from within, each piece glows like an alien object—warm, mysterious, and slightly dangerous. The light transforms them, revealing internal striations from the printing process and enhancing the sharpness of each protrusion. This interplay between material and light is what gives the series its intensity.

This series is part of an ongoing experiment with form repetition, modularity, and perception. Some of the works nest smaller spiked spheres within larger ones, suggesting ideas of containment, multiplication, or mutation. Their synthetic nature and toy-like texture evoke playfulness, while the spikes introduce tension.

With SpikeBalls, I’m interested in how digital fabrication can merge with sculptural intuition to produce objects that are both playful and uncanny—highly designed yet somehow alive.
