SWOLE DUCK

Swole Duck is a ceramic sculpture I created for a university assignment, where we were encouraged to explore form and gesture. I took the opportunity to merge two very different icons: the classical elegance of Greek sculpture, and the exaggerated masculinity of pop culture heroes like Arnold Schwarzenegger.This duck is sculpted in a pose inspired by ancient Greek statuary.

But with a fully ripped, hyper-muscular body that feels somewhere between Michelangelo’s David and a 90s action figure.I wanted the piece to feel absurd yet powerful—anatomically precise, yet undeniably humorous.
The contrast between the delicate material and the exaggerated subject creates a playful tension, and it also reflects my ongoing fascination with mixing classical references and cartoonish surrealism in sculpture.
